| Destiny Church Highlands

- to see a life-giving church emerge here bringing hope, healing and purpose to many through love and service, bringing people to Christ
- to see people drawn into a loving community where they can truly belong and find acceptance
- to see people flourishing in life, being prepared for greatness and living for a cause, using their unique God-given gifts and abilities to the max as part of a winning team
- to have a powerful central impact in Inverness, reaching out and sending out into communities across the Highlands and Islands and seeing many local expressions form
‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about and see; they all gather together, they come to you. |
|
Your sons will come from afar, and your daughters will be carried in the arms. Then you will see and be radiant, and your heart will tremble and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you, the wealth of the nations will come to you, and I shall glorify My glorious house.’ Isa 60:1-5,7 |

I see a church which is less and less religious and more and more real, living in the reality of Christ and His presence with us, taking the message more and more into other people’s worlds rather than waiting for them to show up at church. I see a group in which each person participates according to ability, gifting and maturity, each doing their part to connect with people not yet part of the group. This will happen though love and service and especially with relevant community projects and groups that meet needs in the lives of the people of the region. |
|
I see projects such as our work with recovering drug addicts/alcoholics, a drop-in centre for youth, a Polish after-school club for kids and parents to help with English, a mums and toddlers group and many others, usingthe skills and abilities of us all to invest in winning people. I see a group which becomes well-known in Inverness and across the Highlands and Islands for it’s ‘lived’ faith and for the real difference it makes in people’s lives, for it’s |
compassion and love and non-judgmental attitude, doing all it can and investing time, money, effort and prayer in seeing people won to Christ. |
I see a church increasingly ‘fired up’ and passionate for the cause of Christ and His kingdom, going beyond comfort zones again and again to take the gospel to the unchurched. I see street meetings and open-air stuff across the Highlands and Islands featuring amazing music and anointed testimonies and presentations of Jesus and the gospel, seeing the Holy Spirit poured out mightily as we go, breaking into the worlds of many. I see music |
|
becoming a drawing card and way in for many young folk, and believe God will use us to produce fresh music that touches and changes the unchurched and opens them up to the message. I see targeted outreach in increasing ‘circles’ across the Highlands, and influence spreading through small group meetings in loads of different communities, villages and among different types of people. I see people coming to Christ in one’s and two’s in these meetings, and as a result local ‘expressions’ – cell groups or community groups forming feeding into the ‘big’ as well as new church groups planted in areas too remote for them to be at the main meetings in Inverness. |
|
I see a hub in the Inverness area that has ‘branches’ going out further and further afield. I see a powerful centre of worship, teaching and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, meeting in a warehouse–type building with a large simple open space, bright lights on a metal frame on the ceiling and an awesome passion and life. I see a church getting ‘brighter and brighter till the full day’, a group in which the glory and greatness of God is evident, bringing Him the praise, glory and fame that belongs to Him alone. I see us increasing in influence and acting as a catalyst for change both in may individual lives and also in the communities we live in, having a political influence and seeing things change in terms of the foundations of our society. |
|
I believe God’s calling for us is to be a ‘light to the nations’, drawing people out of darkness and the shadow of death and seeing their lives drawn into the way of peace. I see a group that presents Christ and His cross to the world and equips and builds up people through awesome Bible teaching that is relevant and practical, equipping people for a life of faith and action. |
I see a group which draws out from each person the gifts and calling put there by God – treating each person as a ‘pioneer’ and training up people to go out and do their part to see people won for Christ, built into the family and growing and maturing as followers of Christ. I see a picture of a sheet of paper, and a flame from underneath setting fire to the centre of the page, and the paper curling back in all directions taking the fire in every direction. We are going to raise up strong leaders and see them go out to take the message across the entire region. I also see a powerful waterfall of crystal clear water, awesome in strength, as a ‘backdrop’, and in front of it a field of plants wilting and parched and desperate for water, the contrast of the need and the provision marked in that 1 second’s flow of the waterfall would be more than enough for every plant. I see a group instrumental in bringing God’s life-giving water to the thirsty as God promised : |
‘I will pour out My Spirit on the thirsty and floods on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants’
